How many people play Rust right now?
The figure at the top of this page is every player on a public Rust server, updated every five minutes. It moves a lot through the day, so what you see is the current score, not a daily average. A dead server still counts as a server, but its players are zero.
Why is this lower than Steam's player count?
Steam counts everyone with Rust open, including menus, loading screens and servers that don't list themselves publicly. This page counts only players on public servers, which is why it can split them by type. The gap is normal and doesn't mean players are missing.
When is Rust busiest?
European evenings usually top the table, with the busiest hour often more than double the quietest. Australia's evening lands in the UK morning, and the US east coast evening is after midnight in the UK. Check the history above for the current peak.
Are more people on modded or vanilla servers?
Modded servers hold more players in total, mainly because there are far more of them. Vanilla still packs the big official names. The split above is live and changes as servers report every five minutes.
